The Big Room (TBR) is a new community concept for people living in cities that are struggling to find a space to just be. Third spaces (somewhere that isn’t home or work) are crucial in our society to foster community, connection and allow for natural interactions with others. Spaces where these encounters happen are becomingly increasingly monetised, and are therefore exclusive. This creates a societal divide as those with less disposable income can find it economically impossible to exist within cities. A predictable cycle begins to occur: as cities are left with a more affluent population, there becomes less demand for spaces accessible to ordinary people.

TBR aims to reverse this trend by creating spaces that anyone can belong in. It looks to revive communities within cities as work-from-home culture causes us to become increasingly isolated from each other. Providing young creatives with a place to show and sell their work is also a core focus of TBR.

The Big Room is a multi-function space for people to enjoy, without pressure to spend money, move on quickly or engage in a specific activity. It consist of 4 sections: a food hall, co-work space, pop-up market hall and an event space.
